Malankara Social Service Society is the Project Implementing Agency (PIA) for the prestigious DDU-GKY project sponsored by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India in the state of Kerala for providing skilling and placing for 1164 unemployed poor rural youth in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. DDU-GKY aims to skill poor rural youth and provide them with jobs having regular monthly wages at or above the minimum wages. Organization is providing three streams of training; domestic electrician, assistant plumber, accounts assistance using tally. Course duration is 3 months, two months are strictly allotted for theory & practical classes and one month on-job training with a stipend of Rs.3000/-. After the successful completion of the three months course the organization appoints the trained candidates in various institutions. The main objective of the scheme is to offer low cost, high quality skill education which encompasses both traditional skill development as well as traditional course work, thereby providing opportunities to the learner to move directly to the employment sector.
